Galería Hilario Galguera tiene el honor de presentar la inauguración de la exhibición del artista británico Damien Hirst titulada “Árboles oscuros” (Dark Trees) el jueves 15 de abril de 2010 a las 20:00 horas.
Pintadas por el artista entre 2007-2009, esta nueva serie de más de 30 ‘Pinturas Azules’ (Blue Paintings) marca un momento de transición crucial y un alejamiento significativo de su obra conceptual icónica, así como de las pinturas ‘Farmacéuticas’ o de ‘puntos’, piezas enfocadas hacia lo científico y lo clínico que se han vuelto tan reconocibles como parte del trabajo de Hirst.
Revelando un lado sorpresivamente reflexivo y espiritual de su personalidad, estas obras ofrecen una nueva profundidad emocional nunca antes vista en sus pinturas. Su obsesión continua con los detonadores universales de la vida y la muerte dominan su discurso. La reiterada representación del cráneo humano y de otras referencias clásicas al – memento mori –, crean un dramático diálogo visual que nos confronta a la oscuridad que yace en el centro de la naturaleza humana y sus experiencias.

Painted by the artist between 2007-9 this new series of over 30 'Blue Paintings' marks a significant departure and crucial moment of transition from his conceptual signature works and the more clinical and scientific, Pharmaceutical or 'dot' paintings that have become so recognisable as Hirst works.
Revealing a surprisingly meditative and spiritual side to his personality, these works offer a new emotional depth previously not seen in his paintings. His continued obsession with the universal triggers of life and death are at the forefront of the subject matter. The repeated representation of the human skull and other classic, memento mori references, create a dramatic visual dialogue that confronts the darkness that lies at the heart of human nature and experience.
